As strange as it sounds, Sony has unveiled a credit card for Americans. The new PlayStation card will allow users to earn points on their everyday purchases and PlayStation Store items. There’s currently no word on whether or not this new card will be coming to the UK or other regions. Here’s everything we know about this PlayStation Credit Card.
The card is being created in partnership with Capital One. It’s a Visa card and it will come with a range of benefits including a $50 PlayStation Store code after the first purchase. In addition to this, owners will have access to pre-sale tickets to certain music and sports events within the USA.
It has a 50% back as statement credit off a 12-month PlayStation Plus membership. If you’re willing to spend $3000 in total on purchases within a year. The card also gives 10% back as statement credit off PlayStation Vue, PlayStation Music and PlayStation Now subscriptions.
Using the card on the PlayStation Store or making Sony/PlayStation purchases at certain retailers will also give 5x points on the card. To sweeten the deal, mobile phone bills have 3x points while everyday purchases have the standard 1x points. Sony states that 100 points are worth $1 to their Sony Rewards system. These points can be redeemed on games, consoles, downloadable content, subscription services, Sony electronics, movies , music and more.
This new card has no annual fee and the card can also be customized. There’s a range of game-inspired designs which can be applied to the card after you’ve created an account on capitalone.com and become a card member.
For gamers, this card is probably worthwhile. There’s a lot of bonuses that come with it and if you’ve never had a credit card before then this is the perfect time to start building a credit rating.
